We want everything to be in clear and simple English and without any jargon, but sometimes we quote legal wording in letters or shorten words into ‘acronyms’ which is usually the first letter of each word.
Common examples of this are:
GMT - Greenwich Mean Time (how our clocks are set)
BBC - British Broadcasting Corporation
