Neighbourhood Champions

Introducing our Neighbourhood Action Plans: NAPs

Over the past few months, and as part of our neighbourhood strategy, we’ve been hard at work a new plan to create something new, called Neighbourhood Action Plans – or NAPs, for short!

A Neighbourhood Action Plan is exactly that – a plan of action for your neighbourhood. The plan says what LHP is doing for your area, why we’re doing it, and gives you plenty of chances to get involved and have your say. It’s part of our move toward a more “place based” approach – which in simple terms means focusing more on what matters to you, and your local area.

Designed in collaboration with our colleagues across LHP and our customers, we set out to create these NAPs with one simple goal in mind: we want to work to create neighbourhoods where customers feel safe and part of the community, with clean, well maintained public spaces.

Simply put, our NAPs will set out what matters to your area – according to you, and what we’re doing to make the area a better place to live. They will be regularly updated documents you can download and view to get the latest update on everything happening in your area!

Alongside the launch of our NAPs, we’re also launching Neighbourhood Hub Meetings, where we’ll offer you regular chances to come and chat with your local Neighbourhood Officer and share your thoughts, ideas and priorities for your neighbourhood.

These Neighbourhood Hub Meetings will then held four times a year to make sure that we’re working together and getting lots of feedback to continually shape and improve our Neighbourhood Action Plans. They’ll be completely focused on the local places that matter to you.

The meetings are your chance to tell us what matters to you – what the neighbourhood needs to grow and thrive and be a great place for everyone to live. Using our community connections, we’ll also be able to involve many of our partners who are invested in your neighbourhood, helping our customers get access to the things their community needs.

What this will mean is us learning more about what matters to you, and delivering “place based” results that improve your local area. We’re incredibly excited about the impact our Neighbourhood Action Plans are set to make within our communities, and we need your help to shape these going forward – we hope you’ll come along to the first meeting and learn all about the exciting things we have planned!

Keep an eye on our social media and your email inbox for more information about the Neighbourhood Hub Meetings!

Until then, if you’d like to hear more or get involved, don’t hesitate to reach out.

    Welcome and Introductions

Introductions from the staff and their roles and from the customers and where they live:

    • What’s the best place to eat or grab coffee in your neighbourhood?
    • What kind of public spaces (parks, libraries, markets) are available nearby?
    • If you could change one thing about your neighbourhood, what would it be?

    Leverton: Leverton, Lincolnshire - Wikipedia

Quiet remote village 6 miles away from Boston.
It is community minded in a certain respect that most people know most people and look out for each other.
Unfortunately apart from the church doing a coffee morning, there's not a lot that ever goes on.
Community centre is far from centre of the village so you need to go by car or bicycle.
They only have activities like archery, Bowman Carpet bowls that's been going for years and skating, but more elderly people would like to do something a bit different.

There is also St Helena church hall.

Closest LHP sheltered units with a communal lounge are in other villages: Butterwick and Old Leake.

    Kirton: Kirton, Lincolnshire - Wikipedia

Kirton is quiet but growing village. It's getting quite big now.
There are two LHP sheltered accommodation both ends of the Hardwick Estate - D'eyncourt and Chestnuts.

In the last few years we don't seem to have that same community feel. I think that's because some of its economic, that more people are going out to work and have got all the pressures and it's not the people that were born in the village and then stayed, so it's changed quite a bit.
There are health walks to try and get people back & involved.

Why We’re Here – it is important to understand what we are trying to achieve

    • Short overview on:
      • Why we have a priority to increase customer influence - Nicola
      • Why we have developed the NAP’s ( Neighbourhood Action Plans), how the meetings with partners are working and what we hope to achieve – Danielle
      • How we are using the YourVoice platform to help customers get more involved in the NAP’s – Elwira demo
      • How we are also hoping to launch customer listening events in neighbourhoods – to provide spaces for customers and colleagues to connect and engage – with no set agenda – but to help us understand customers - Abi
      • Why we are hoping to have customers more involved (role of Neighbourhood Champions) as part of giving customers more say in their communities – connected to these other initiatives - Danielle
      • We want to design this role with you so it is something you want to be part of — not hand you a finished job description - Nicola
      • Champions could also become a pathway to bigger customer involvement if they want it — but no pressure.
  • Shaping the role of Neighbourhood Champions

Thank you for all who have signed up to become Neighbourhood Champion.

First session will be open discussion about what Neighbourhood Champions role will look like and what would you like it to be.

Meeting will be on Friday 16th May at 3pm Online.

    Many thanks,

    Elwira
