4Million Homes Training Dates:

Four Million Homes is an organisation who's purpose is to help social housing tenants understand their rights, and how to stand up for them.

They are running a series of online workshops and the events are part of a ten-session training series designed to help social housing residents understand their rights, how to stand up for them, and get better treatment and services from landlords.

Session 5: Your landlord and your money - July 9 @ 18:3021:00

This session is designed to:

  • Explore where your social landlord's income comes from and how they calculate value for money
  • Inform you of how your rent and service charges are spent
  • Let you know whether you're getting good value in return
  • Inform you of the types of financial information landlords share
  • Give you knowledge on how to question or challenge how they're spending their money

Session 6: Awaab’s Law – making your home safer, faster - July 16 @ 18:3021:00

Awaab’s Law, part of the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023, requires social landlords to investigate and fix health hazards in their homes—like damp and mould—within set time limits.

This session is designed to:

  • Educate participants on what Awaab's Law means
  • Explain how it changes current rules and the timescales for making these changes
  • Give specific focus on damp and mould

If you have a problem with your landlord, you have the right to make a complaint and expect it to be handled fairly, following clear procedures and within set timeframes.

This session is designed to cover:

  • The expectations placed on landlords by the Regulator of Social Housing and the Housing Ombudsman
  • How landlords must inform tenants about the complaints process
  • What a proper complaints process should include
  • What actions should follow once a complaint is received

A residents’ association is a group of people living in the same area who come together to address local issues and improve their community. Members can include tenants, shared owners, leaseholders, and homeowners. This session will provide background and explain the value of residents’ associations.

  • The benefits of forming one
  • Whether setting one up is feasible in your area
  • The support you can expect from your landlord
  • The roles and responsibilities of committee members, including how to handle challenging situations
