Refreshing the communal garden by repurposing everyday items

At Mathew Quinn House, one customer – Roland, known to many as Roley – is bringing the communal garden to life, creating a space that people can truly enjoy and feel proud of.

The communal garden has always been a shared space, but through his time, care, and creativity, Roley is enhancing it and giving it new energy and purpose. He has been adding his own touch, by planting trees and flowers, installing solar lights, and creating an environment that feels warm, welcoming, and full of character.

What makes this transformation even more meaningful is the way he’s reimagined everyday items. Old, unused furniture has been given a new purpose; a wooden bed frame turned into a bench, flooring transformed into a table, and spare pieces of wood crafted into unique light features.

What others may have overlooked, Roley has turned into something that adds life and personality to the space.

And he’s not finished yet! Roley continues to have ideas and plans to develop the garden further, with a passion for making it somewhere customers can come together, whether that’s to sit and chat, spend time outdoors, or simply enjoy a peaceful moment surrounded by nature.

By bringing this space to life, Roley is doing more than enhancing a garden – he's creating connection, pride, and a sense of belonging for everyone at Mathew Quinn House.
