Here is a list of local community projects you could do:

COMMUNITY - Bring people together and build stronger relationships across the communities

  • Organise homework club
  • Support others in using technology, internet and social media
  • Share mental health resources with your community
  • Coach youth sports team through local club
  • Give free music lessons.
  • Share sustainability awareness ( For example sustainable seafood options to reduce overfishing)
  • Help language learners practice with conversation.
  • Run a community library
  • Organise group walks
  • Host a clothing swap.
  • Do cooking classes
  • Start book reading club
  • Produce a community newsletter.
  • Help at homeless shelter

PLACES - Improve the places and spaces that matter to your community

  • Report any disrepair in LHP communal areas.
  • Rake leaves for an elderly neighbour.
  • Mow your neighbour's lawn.
  • Clean up cigarette butts on the ground.
  • Beautify your area with seed bombs.
  • Help with a river clean-up.
  • Clean up your local park.
  • Help a neighbour or community paint fence or rooms.
  • Host a gardening party.

PEOPLE - Help others to reach their potential, by supporting them.

  • If you know another language, be a translator at parent-teacher conferences.
  • Offer dog-walking or washing services
  • Look out for safety of children playing on your estate
  • Help others create CV
  • Give a seminar on driving safety.
  • Teach CPR (if you are certified).
  • Host activities for kids in hospitals

YOU - Make the difference by your individual actions.

  • Collect and donate to places like food banks, family shelters, schools, libraries and charities.
  • Foster a shelter animal.
  • Take and donate photos during community events ( with their permission)
  • Make safety warning plaques
  • Offer to patch up clothes and stuffed toys.
  • Knit scarves or hats for families
  • Bake cookies and snacks for food banks.
  • Write letters to seniors in care facilities.
  • Make quilts or blankets for kids in hospitals.
  • Build birdhouses and bug hotels
  • Design a community mural
  • Put together first aid kits for local shelters.
