Food waste collection - Boston

Food waste collections will begin from the week commencing 19 October 2026. We’re making a small change to the planned start date for Boston’s new weekly food waste collections.

Collections were originally due to begin in September, but following collection round reviews and vehicle delivery timescales, we’ve made the decision to start in October to help ensure the new service gets off to a smooth start. We’ll send you further information through the post before your collections begin.

We’re also changing how side waste is collected.

From the week commencing 21 September, residents who regularly put additional waste alongside their general waste or recycling bin may receive a tag explaining the forthcoming change. Side waste will still be collected during this awareness period. From the week commencing 26 October, side waste will no longer be accepted.

All general waste and recycling will need to be inside the correct bin with the lid closed. If you feel you may need additional bin capacity, please contact us.
